Hydrocele of the canal of Nuck — an old problem revisited

摘要：

Herein the authors describe the case of a young woman presenting with a tender lump in her groin. Clinically the differential was of either a reactive lymph node or a femoral hernia. Ultrasound scan was urgently arranged and showed a cystic lesion. Surgical exploration was carried out and revealed this to be a hydrocele of the canal of Nuck. This was excised and the patient’s symptoms resolved and she was discharged home the following day. We explore the embryology, pathophysiology and management of this rare entity.

Scientific significance of ancient maps of Yellow River and Grand Canal for water conservancy in China

摘要： Based on the study of ancient maps preserved in China and abroad, the systematic nature and practical meaning of the maps of the Yellow River and Grand Canal is demonstrated. It is pointed out that the ancient maps not only record the spatial information of the established water conservancy engineering for river harnessing but also the management systems of the rivers in history. Besides, the maps provide abundant information on nature, humanity, and geography and possess high value in academic research and art appreciation.

Synchronous rectal adenocarcinoma and anal canal adenocarcinoma

摘要： It is difficult to distinguish a rectal carcinoma with anal metastases from coexistent synchronous anorectal carcinomas. The therapeutic strategy for rectal and anal carcinoma is so different that it should be clearly identified. Here, we report on the case of a 63-year-old man who presented with an upper-third rectal adenocarcinoma. Five months after resection, he developed an adenocarcinoma in the anal canal. The histological slides of both tumors were reviewed and immunohistochemical studies for cytokeratins (CKs) 7 and 20 were performed. The index tumor demonstrated CK 7 /CK 20+ and the second showed CK7+/CK20+. For this reason, we believe the present case had synchronous adenocarcinomas arising from anal canal and the rectum separately. It is very important to differentiate the anorectal lesions pathologically because of the impact on the therapeutic options available, especially for the lesion arising in the anal canal.

渠网恒定流及非恒定流数学模型的研究及应用

摘要：

从求解一维圣维南方程组的Preissmann 4点隐式差分格式出发, 建立了一维河网及渠网数学模型，并对计算中所涉及的一些关键技术问题进行了较为详细的阐述。利用模型对树状渠网的恒定流及复杂的环状渠网和河网的非恒定流对模型进行验证。验证结果表明，水位和流量过程计算值与Islam的计算值吻合较好，各渠道的流量分配计算结果精度也较高，为河网及渠网的水量调度提供了一个较为简便实用的工具，为建立渠网及河网的综合水质生态数学模型打下基础。

Modeling of hydrological processes in arid agricultural regions

摘要： Understanding of hydrological processes, including consideration of interactions between vegetation growth and water transfer in the root zone, underpins efficient use of water resources in arid-zone agriculture. Water transfers take place in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, and include groundwater dynamics, unsaturated zone flow, evaporation/transpiration from vegetated/bare soil and surface water, agricultural canal/surface water flow and seepage, and well pumping. Models can be categorized into three classes: (1) regional distributed hydrological models with various land uses, (2) groundwater-soil-plant-atmosphere continuum models that neglect lateral water fluxes, and (3) coupled models with groundwater flow and unsaturated zone water dynamics. This review highlights, in addition, future research challenges in modeling arid-zone agricultural systems, e.g., to effectively assimilate data from remote sensing, and to fully reflect climate change effects at various model scales.

Important parameters in plasma jets for the production of RONS in liquids for plasma medicine: A brief review

摘要： Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) are among the key factors in plasma medicine. They are generated by atmospheric plasmas in biological fluids, living tissues and in a variety of liquids. This ability of plasmas to create a delicate mix of RONS in liquids has been used to design remote or indirect treatments for oncological therapy by treating biological fluids by plasmas and putting them in contact with the tumour. Documented effects include selective cancer cell toxicity, even though the exact mechanisms involved are still under investigation. However, the “right” dose for suitable therapeutical activity is crucial and still under debate. The wide variety of plasma sources hampers comparisons. This review focuses on atmospheric pressure plasma jets as the most studied plasma devices in plasma medicine and compiles the conditions employed to generate RONS in relevant liquids and the concentration ranges obtained. The concentrations of H O , NO , NO and short-lived oxygen species are compared critically to provide a useful overview for the reader.
